Teens and young adults, ages 16-24, were the target group for Job Fest 2023 in San Antonio. “This was our first time attending the Job Fest. Many veterans were escorting their teenaged children to the event and stopped by the TVC table,” said Laurie Pimentel-Johnson, Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Veteran Employment Services South Texas District Outreach Coordinator and Army veteran.

According to Pimentel-Johnson, the event attracted about 900 job seekers and there was a steady flow of visitors to the TVC table where veterans and their family members signed up for information and assistance from TVC Employment Services.

In addition to connecting with young job seekers, the event provided TVC Employment Services the opportunity to network with employers. This included making new connections and reconnecting with employers such as Centro Med, CPS Energy, UT Health, Alterman, Spectrum, King George, Emler’s, and Texas A&M.

Job Fest 2023 was hosted by Representative Barbara Gervin-Hawkins, Texas House District 120; Spurs Sports & Entertainment; and the following partners: Workforce Solutions Alamo, Bexar County, City of San Antonio, Goodwill, Methodist Episcopal African, City Council District 2, and D2 Strong. The event was held June 1, 2023 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.
